1. What this policy covers

Shoreline Broking Pty Ltd (ABN 36 453 793 582, "Shoreline Broking", "we", "us" or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and disclose it, and how you can access or correct it, or make a complaint. It applies to personal information we collect when you engage us for credit assistance or mortgage broking services, when you use this website, or when you otherwise interact with us as a client, prospective client or website visitor.

2. The information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • identity information — your name, date of birth, contact details and identification documents;
  • financial information — income, assets, liabilities, expenses, employment details, bank statements and credit history;
  • property information — details of the property you're buying, refinancing or building;
  • information about your loan application and its progress with lenders;
  • information you give us when you contact us, submit an enquiry form, book an appointment, or use the calculators on this website; and
  • technical information about your visit to this website, such as pages viewed and general location, collected through analytics tools.

3. How we collect your information

We usually collect personal information directly from you — in person, by phone, email, through this website, or via documents you provide. We may also collect information from:

  • credit reporting bodies (such as Equifax, illion or Experian);
  • lenders, mortgage aggregators and other credit providers;
  • your referees, accountant, financial adviser or solicitor, with your consent; and
  • publicly available sources, where reasonably necessary.

4. Why we collect, hold, use and disclose your information

We collect and use your personal information to:

  • assess your borrowing needs and provide credit assistance;
  • prepare and submit loan applications to lenders on your behalf;
  • verify your identity and comply with our obligations under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009, the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006, and other applicable laws;
  • communicate with you about your application and our services;
  • manage our ongoing relationship with you, including annual loan reviews;
  • improve our services and this website; and
  • meet our legal, regulatory and reporting obligations.

5. Credit reporting information

As a credit assistance provider, we may collect credit reporting information about you — such as your credit history and credit score — from credit reporting bodies, and disclose information to them, in accordance with Part IIIA of the Privacy Act 1988 and the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code. We use this information to assess your creditworthiness and suitability for the loans we help you apply for.

You can request further detail about the credit reporting bodies we deal with by contacting us using the details in Section 14.

6. Who we may disclose your information to

We may disclose your personal information to:

  • the lenders and mortgage insurers you apply to;
  • Loan Market Group Pty Ltd, our aggregator, for compliance, quality assurance and commission processing purposes;
  • credit reporting bodies;
  • our professional advisers, including our accountant, auditor and legal advisers;
  • IT and software service providers who help us run our business;
  • our external dispute resolution scheme, the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), if a complaint is raised; and
  • regulators or government bodies, where required by law.

7. Overseas disclosure

We do not currently disclose personal information to recipients located outside Australia. If this changes, we will update this policy to identify the countries involved, where practicable.

8. Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure — including secure file storage, restricted access and staff training. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Direct marketing

We may use your contact details to send you information about our services, mortgage and rate updates, or other content we think may be of interest to you. You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by contacting us or using the unsubscribe link in our emails.

10. Cookies and website analytics

This website doesn't currently use Google Analytics or other third-party analytics or tracking cookies. It may use essential cookies needed for the site and contact form to function correctly. If we start using analytics or marketing cookies in the future, we'll update this section and put a cookie notice in place at that time.

11. Access and correction

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. We will respond to your request within a reasonable time. In some circumstances permitted by law, we may decline a request for access — if so, we will explain why.

12. How to make a privacy complaint

If you believe we have breached your privacy, please contact us using the details in Section 14. We will investigate and respond within 30 days.
