This Credit Guide is provided to you as required by the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (NCCP Act). It contains important information about who we are, the credit assistance we can offer, how we're paid, and what to do if you have a complaint. Please read it before you decide to use our services.
2. Credit assistance we can provide
We can help you with credit assistance for:
- residential home loans, owner-occupied and investment;
- refinancing of existing home loans;
- construction and building loans;
- personal and asset finance; and
- limited commercial and business lending.
We hold a panel of 40+ lenders. We don't act for every lender in the market, and we don't compare every loan available — we'll tell you which lenders are on our panel, and how many we've considered for your situation, if you ask.
3. Who we act for
When we provide credit assistance to you, we act on your behalf, not on behalf of the lender — even though we're usually paid a commission by the lender once your loan settles (see Section 5).
4. Fees you pay us
In most cases, we don't charge you a fee for our credit assistance — we're paid by the lender (see Section 5). If we do charge a fee in your circumstances, we'll disclose the amount to you in writing before you engage us, in a separate quote or credit proposal.
5. Commissions and other benefits we receive
We usually receive commission from the lender when your loan settles. This typically includes:
- an upfront commission — generally a percentage of the loan amount drawn down, which varies by lender; and
- a trail commission — generally a smaller ongoing percentage of your outstanding loan balance, paid for as long as the loan remains open.
Exact amounts depend on the lender and loan product, and will be set out in your credit proposal disclosure document before you proceed. Commission is paid by the lender — it isn't an extra cost to you, and it doesn't come out of your loan amount.
6. Other benefits and associations
Shoreline Broking Pty Ltd has no ownership interest in, or other association with, any lender on our panel that could reasonably be expected to influence our recommendations to you.
We may occasionally receive minor non-monetary benefits, such as professional development or hospitality, from lenders, in line with our aggregator's conflicted remuneration policy.
7. Our professional indemnity insurance
We hold professional indemnity insurance that covers our credit activities, including for the actions of past representatives, as required under the NCCP Act.
8. If you have a complaint
If you're unhappy with our service, please tell us first — see our Complaints & Disputes page for how to lodge a complaint and what happens next.
If we can't resolve it to your satisfaction, you can take your complaint to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), free of charge:
